As a curiosity, I have access to a old school 302 Ford engine should I want it.
I also have a 2003 high mileage 4.0 sohc.
Should the 4.0 engine fail, is there a way to install the 302 into this vehicle?
Thanks

wrong subform. that said, with enough money anything is possible. i dont see why iy wouldnt be as iirc when i looked at a 3g at the JY the bay was larger. however, it wouldnt mount up easily, etc like another sohc or a 4.6 would. it would be a completely different swap, as the electronics are different i would assume in the 3gs with pats that disables starter as well (?) a different frame, and different body. so yes it can be done i dont see why not, but it would be quite complicated i imagine. would need access to a 2nd gen with the 5.0 and make everything run and think its a 2nd gen i would imagine.

imo easier to put a 4.6 i would imagine

It could be done. The 4.6 pcm could control the 5.0. Figure out which transmission you would want to use and the motor mounts.

Thanks, you are likely correct. Save the 302 for a rainy day!

This thread was moved to the correct subform.
