I have a set of new heads to put on my 94' (200k) don't really want to risk putting new heads on a worn engine so I was going to refresh the short block withe bearings and rings but came across a rebuilt short block for a decent deal on a rebuilt short block, by the time I go through my short block I'm guessing I'd be close to this price. Ford 4.0 244 Short Block 1990-1994 - NO CORE REQUIRED - 90 Day Limited Warranty

Not bad price at all still need head bolts and oil pump setup

So $900 for block I’ve been getting ohv heads out of Texas for $550 reman oil pump
Timing chain gaskets bolts thermostat maybe some lifters and pushrods this could be an affordable way to repower an old ohv for sure!

Pretty much what I was thinking, I have a new OEM pair of 93TM heads that I picked up off of Ebay for $540 with free shipping a while back. Thought about just putting the heads on the original block and calling it good but I've always heard horror stories about doing that to an engine with 200k miles on it. I have put new heads on engines in the 100k range but not with 200k.
