I seek information about Cat Back exhaust systems. What types have you guys used?? What performance gains? What about the sound?
Also, and most important, can they be installed in your driveway? or do you need a muffler shop to do it?
Thanks....

Hi Aldive, I have a Borla and sounds great, it seem like it has more power. You can do it in your driveway just jack it up as high as you can and use jack stands and remove your right rear shock and work the old exhaust out or cut it in two if you have a air cut off tool and the new Cat Back came in two parts its EZ hope this helps.

I just finished installing my Borla last night. I am very pleased with it. It is just slightly louder than stock with a deeper rumble to it when you step on it. It is exactly what I wanted... still quiet but deep sounding.

As for the installation... easiest thing I've ever done to my X performance wise. Do your self a favor and order these parts so you'll have them when you go to put your new cat-back on: 1. the two bolts with springs on them and nuts that bolt it up to the catalyc(sp?) converter (the threads on mine were too rusted to reuse) 2. the graphite gasket that goes in between the new cat-back and the catalyc converter (you pull off the old woven wire gasket and put on a new half dome shaped graphite one) It took me five days to get the new bolts and gasket. (Ford takes FOREVER to ship parts) If I had all the parts when I started the job I could have finished in 30-45 minutes. VERY SIMPLE job.

Borla web site does not indicate that they make a cat back system for a 99 v6 sohc model. Anyone know any different?
