Hello, 2nd generation Explorer owners. I'm from the Czech Republic and I own an Exe 1998, 4 doors, 4.0 SOHC. I left the car for about two months and now I find that something has happened to the locks. All doors, including the trunk, are locked using the central unit, but unlocking only works for the driver. If I unlock the other doors manually from the inside, the locking works correctly again, but again only the driver can do the unlocking. I looked at a common wiring problem behind the driver's door and fixed the wiring (see attached photo). Subsequently, I also tried to re-pair the central controller via the ignition. The remote pairing went well, but the vehicle still won't unlock all the doors, only the driver's door. We were advised to look at the next part of the wiring, under the small rear bench, about 30 centimeters further down the line of the first repaired connection.
___
Does anyone ideally have the "same" experience that 1 out of 4 doors worked for you?
___
I don't think it's a mechanical fault, the moving parts obviously move as they should, rather I blame it on some oxidation of the electrical connection. I also tried replacing the battery in the controller. I will check the relays and fuses later today (June 23rd).
___
So I'm asking for advice, or when I solve it, I'll write here where the error was.

Problem found and solved. The defect lies in the original area (under the rear passenger seat behind the driver). There are three cable connections and door unlocking and locking. All were oxidized (copper oxidation). To find the connections, it is necessary to remove about 0.5m of electrical tape, because two connections are not originally visible, they are located at the bottom of the bundle.
___
This oxidation problem arises because the original connection is protected only by black "fabric" insulation, which is able to hold moisture.

Well done! Way to find the issue and report it here

I had a similar issue years ago similar wiring on passenger side between front and rear doors…
