I have a 2002 Explorer Limited. It bought it used. I have been wanting to use the keyless entry system. When i go to enter the code(The one provided on the little card) The lights on the keypad and inside the car lights turn on. But entering the code doesn't do anything? Please help! Thanks, Sorry im a newbie

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

Is it possible that the card with the code is not for your vehicle? Check out this thread for locating the security module, thanks to Welli for a great write-up!!: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246957&highlight=entry+code

With all doors closed, and your keys in your pocket, try pressing the 7/8 & 9/0 keys simultaneously. The doors should lock. Of course, it is possible that the keypad is bad.

Here is the rundown on how the keyless entry system works. It's contained in the owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual, Dead Link Removed.

If you have your keypad working correctly and have the correct code, you can then program your own personal code.

Hope I didn't confuse you too much & this helps out! :D:thumbsup:

Also check one by one- the buttons. Push 1/2, the lights should come on, wait, and let the lights turn off. Then try the next one (3/4), wait for the lights to turn off. Try each of the remaining 3 buttons, to be sure you don't have a dead button which would keep the code form being entered. If you push one and the lights don't come on, it's dead and you need a new keypad...
