Well, it finally crapped out on me. Searched and posted here http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=279875 a couple years ago.
Talked to my transmission man right after the last post in the above thread, telling him about the "rattling" and he said it would be fine for a while, to just turn the radio up if it was bothering me and to call him when I'd had enough
and he would rebuild it. Said there was a sleeve he would put in it and my troubles would be over.
100,100 miles and I got the "check transmission" light. Had to let off the gas pedal in 1st so it would go into 2nd. So made appointment, took it in and it's good as new. Considered trading, but I like my Ex, so I stuck it out till she gave up the ghost. Ready for another 100,000+ run now
Don't get on here much, don't have much trouble, but I'll try and stop by every now and again. Thanks for everyones help on the things I have fixed with info from this site
