When I try to put my SUV into gear I can put it into drive on the shifter, but the tranie will not go into gear. What is the problem?

Could be lots of things. First question, is it only in D it doesn't work? Or does it not work in any position (R, L2, L1)?
With any automatic problem, the first thing to check is the fluid level. Low fluid can cause a host of complaints.
2nd, check the detent cable (or it's equivalent). Perhaps the shifter isn't "communicating" with the transmission.

Well First when I put it in reverse it won't move just a little forward. When in neutral it is like it is in park. Drive, 1st, & 2nd it will move forward when the rpm gets a little higher. But when it go's into gear it makes a awfull noise. (the fluid is fine!)

you need a new tranny!!
