Last night i drove it around no problems or anything but this morning its like 6 degrees with windchills and it wont start. Took battery to get checked it was bad so i got another one at walmart with a 3 year warranty put it in still wont start. Fuel pump is turning on i can hear it. It is cranking so i dont know the problem unless the lines are frozen. My fuel guage says 1/4 of a tank unless it is wrong.

update i put more gas in it no luck. i took intake hose off and squirt some starting fluid in the intake no luck getting it to run but it sounded like it almost fired so im thinking not good enough spark which probably is the coil because the plugs and wires dont even have 200 miles on them. And fuel filter is new so i know its not that. Only other thing i can think is the gas i got had water then it froze in the lines.

I don't think your gas is frozen. I took the ex winter camping and it sat in -20 for 3 days and didn't freeze. You could have a couple of problems. Try moving the relays around so no relay goes back in the same spot. Check all the fuses. Try to warm it up by letting it crank for a few minutes. It could be the fuel pump so make sure you have fuel all the way to the engine, you could be hearing it but it could be defective and not getting gas all the way.

Try flooring the gas pedal while you crank it. Do not do this for over 10 seconds though. Lets see if that will get it fired up.

Is it parked pointing downhill by chance?

no not down hill at all and i did open throttle but no luck. But like i said starter fluid didnt even make it fire not even for a second.

What engine?

that's probably your answer...:-( try getting a compression test to see if things are Ok mechanically. try unplugging and plugging back in the crank shaft sensor to see if you can get it to fire. As you have figured, if starting fluid doesn't fire, you either have an electrical problem OR a "fundamental mechanical issue" (ie. timing stuff which this engine is famous for).

i just called at&t road side assistance and got it towed to a shop. The tow guy is also a mechanic he said he bets it just needs to sit in a warm shop overnight and it should fire up. Hopfully i get that luck. I just di a tune up and got my inatke stuff fixed so it runs better that al was around 500 for everything. It ran great for 2 days and now this.

do the timing chains break alot on the 4.0 sohc because i sure hope thats not the problem because the motor would need removed i dont have equipment to do it myself. i hope i get lucky and it not be an expensive fix.

Yes they WILL eventually need to be replaced.

Unless u heard the death rattle before, i doubt thats the problem.

Ya no rattles. i hope it was just somthing easy and not expensive.

hopefully they will do more than "just let it sit in the warm"... that probably isn't going to solve the real issue... especially IF you have already "thrown" money at it for a "partial" tune up.

update from my mechanic. first he thought it was a timing issue but not. Everything else he said checked out its getting compression spark and fuel but the plugs were soaked with gas. I guess me cranking it and putting starting fluid flooded the engine. they pulled plugs out and letting everything dry. so hopfully i got lucky on this. But knowing my luck it probably cost me. which i hope not.

Hopeful, but probably not the cause. From your description you flooded after the no-start. You didn't have any check engine lights when driving it before?

For what its worth I have seen an air filter clogged with snow and frozen into a solid block of ice causing stall & no start, but it popped a ton of codes.

No codes ever since i got my intake replaced. I didnt know my battery was dead that when i flooded the engine. in the morning i had to leave i cranked it for 5 seconds wouldnt start. then i took my moms car to go to town approx 3 hrs came home and tried again after it warmed up a bit cranked for another 5 seconds no start so i hooked jumper cables up to it let it charge 5 min still no start but almost did. I took battery to oreily they said it was bad so i went to walmart and got one still no start. So after all that cranking and the starter fluid that got put in there i dont doubt it was flooded thats why im hoping it was and not somthing big.

hopefully they find "it" but it doesn't sound quite right.... a "spark sign" isn't necessarily "good" unless it is at the right time... just finding a "spark" can happen "easily" as I think these engines "fire disposable spark" (ie. not at "compression" strokes). Pulling plugs and drying/cleaning might help but I doubt it. As suggested, try replugging the crankshaft sensor which is used to "fire" plugs.

I pretty much took it to a dealership it wasnt the ford dealer but they have the technology and certified technicians so im sure they did all of that im just waiting on a call. Im not doubting you either.

Well mechanic just called me. he got it fired up but he said now its just running weird. he said hell see whats wrong in the morning.

I went to my mechanic to see how it ran to see what it ran like the technician had somthing unplugged where i coulnt start it a fuse or somthing. I am getting frustrated bc i cant beleive it goes from running excellent to nothing the next morning.
