Hey everyone, Iv been thinking of lifting my 92 X, and Iv heard alot of people saying to use f-150 coil spacers up front. Are we talking about the factory ones (also known as "spring insulators"?), or are we talking about aftermarket spacers that are specifically made for lifting an f-150? Thanks,
Andy

i have them on my 94 X right now.... they are the factory coil spacers.... you can pick them up at the ford dealer ship for like $35 and there not hard to put on

Ask for F150 coil SEATS.....

How much lift will they produce and how much?

The f-150 spacers will give you about 1 5/8" of lift. I went to the junk yard to get mine...$10's for both. They aren't hard to put on....just have a good breaker bar and you'll probably also need a length of pipe to help persuade the retainer nut to come off.

Thanks! Might just be what the doctor ordered.

Do a search and get the exact part number. The number is in a thread here somewhere. They are SEATS from a 97 TWO WHEEL DRIVE f150. For those of us with a clam shell spring compressor and a lift they take under 30 mins to install. In a driveway plan on some more time. And before removing that nut spray it with some penetrating oil in advance.

Here you go......

These are the spacers from F150's that you hear about.
F2TZ5A307A Ford Coil Spring spacer
F2TZ5A307B Ford Coil Spring spacer

These are the exact part numbers.

Heads Up... If you have a 4x2, you will also need longer bolts that go thru the I-beam and thru the spacer. 4x4 is long enough.

bumped this for others to find part number easier.

Will these spacers fit on a 1999 Sport? Yesterday I just did Warrior shackles, 4-door rear spring swap, AAL and Monroe Load-Leveler shocks in the back. This gave me about 3.5 inches lift in the rear. I then did the TT up front as far as it would go (2 inches) and now my rear sits about 1.5 inches higher than my front.

Will the coil spacers in front even this out? Can I use these on a 2nd gen Sport?

No
99 Sport uses torsion bars not coil springs.
You need to lower the rear 1.5", i vote for ditching the stiff add a leaf.
the only way to get more lift out of your front end is to buy a lift kit :)
Unless you are 2wd thenyou can crank those torsion bars some more.

I'm 4x4, so that's not possible. I really would hate to pull the AAl out since I just paid someone to put it in. I don't mind the ride so much, though it's a little different sitting forward like that. I do a lot of offroading and like the added lift, even if it's uneven.

The guy at the shop said my 4-door springs should settle a bit over time, lowering the rear on it's own, but what do you think the negatives are of keeping it as is?

NEGATIVES are the add a leaf, it too will sag and your rear will squat a bit from where it is now.
Add a leafs are very very stiff.
You shouls use shackles in the back of an Explorer to lift the rear, not add a leafs.
its not that hard to get the add a leaf out of there, but you will need new leaf spring centering pins/bolts, like $5. I could do it, but I am leaving the country, maybe when I get back?

That would be really great! I appreciate it because I would like to learn this stuff for myself, so I don't have to pay an arm and a leg to get anything done.

When will you be returning? You can email me at steve@lavasys.com.

Don' the shackels also degrade the ride. I thought the shackels would make it not so stable at highway speeds or something.
I may be wrong, but this is the reason I had desided on a AAL or the f150 spring pack mod.

We are not talking about a super huge lift shackle here, jsut a mere 2" will not degrade the performance, not nearly as much as the AAL, in fact the shackles will improve articulation and keep the stock spring rate.

I have a 99 sport 4wd with shackles and 4dr leaf springs. Works like a charm. But now I'm on to the next step. SOA with a raked body lift. 5.5 - 6" of lift in the back and 5" (3" body lift, and 2" torsion twist) of lift in the front. Any ideas on getting that estra inch out of the front?

Does anyone have a pic of there 91-94 X with the coil spring lift in the front and AAL or Shackels in the rear??? I would like to do this too but i am worried i may have too much of a rake when i do it.Also, you don't have to lower the center pivot on the front end????On the lift kits i have noticed a new bracket that has to be bolted in after the old one is removed.

Also, the part # for the spring spacers are of a 92 vintage. Does it have to be from a 2 wheel drive F-150 or does the 2 wheel drive F-150 only have the spacers on it? Also someone said that they are off of a 97 F-150???????
