Man the F-150 sucks in a 40 MPH off center crash test. What the heck is Ford doing, that thing crumpled the cab like a pop can, almost no doubt that you would be killed. Is Ford going down the tubes with everything, they have more freaking re-calls and problems right now than anyone, but I guess it's just a cycle that hits everyone. Fix Or Re-call Daily I guess is the new one. Like most I've always been and always will like Ford Trucks, just not Ford Corporate.

I saw that test and freaked. I never thought I would see the day a Ford fails a crash test. but then again they are making the bumpers flimsy now when they once had the strongest bumpers in the industry.

well I think I'll be allright in mine, my lights will protect me (plus I would STOP before I hit the wall!) :). Seriously though, I don't get it, even last years crash test ratings the f-150's rated quite high, and I can't tell of anything that has changed with them structurally... ah well, I still say your safer in an f-150 then in a honda accord or other small car. I can think of many times when I've been rear-ended (twice in my old F-150, one in my 2000) and didn't even get a scratch in the bumper and the other vehicle was either totalled or nearly totalled.

my friend had a hyundai accent. he was driving about 35mph someone (mercury tracer) turned at an intersection and hit his front bumper on the driver side. both airbags went off, shattering the windshield: the engine dropped out and destoyed the trans, axle, and engine. his hyundai was totaled, the tracer was drivable but was junk before the accident anyway. a week later i had a very similar accident with my daytona, only some body damage there.

bottom line... anything is better than a hyundai when you crash

I think if you did 5 crash test, you would get 5 different test results. This F-150 just happened to be the one that wasn't so lucky.

The F-150 rated 4 or 5 stars on the Govt. front crash test, running into a wall. It would appear the structure is designed more for a straight head-on than the offset crash. Ford may need to rework some of its structure to reflect a crash that affects only one frame rail instead of two.

yeah, most accidents aren't straight on. people cut the wheel and start skidding sideways. of couse if the accident was an F150 and a civic, i'd rather be in the truck.;)

oh come on people, who is going to drive up on a wall at 40mph. what is the first thing that we do when we almost hit something???? step on the brakes. and do u see how fast that speedometer drops when u step on the brakes?

what if you look away for a second and you slam into the 18-wheeler coming in to your lane while making a wide turn?
