f150 spacers and coil spacers

could i do f150 lspacers and 2" coil spacers? dont f150 spacers go at the bottom and coil spacers go at the top?

Not on the Ford

The F-150 spring seats will raise it 1-5/8", they mount under the coil in the top of the radius arm, you must have a 4x4 bolt for the TTB.

With the ford coil bucket you cannot use a urethane spacer on top of the coil because of the way the coil locks into the bucket and tabs (twists in)
 






so which would be better? coil spacers or f150 spacers?
 






It depends on if you want urethane or steel spacers. I'd opt for the steel ones - they will still be there when the rest of the truck is a little red spot on the driveway... If you need more lift than what the steel spacers offer, it's time to think about springs instead.
 






i have a 4" rough country lift kit if i add 2" coil spacers will i need 6" drop brackets?
 






If it were mine, I'd stick the springs in there to see what it does. You would probably need some new castor adjusters at the very least - but perhaps not new brackets.

Some go by the angle of the axle housings in relationship to the spindles.

Are your spindles higher or lower than the bottom of the brakets? If they are lower (not as much lift) then the 2" probably won't hurt you. If, on the other hand, your spindles are already higher (more lift) than the axle brackets, then adding an additional 2" will really throw off stuff.

Another consideration is the steering... Do you have a dropped pitman arm or Super Runner steering? If not, going to 6 inches will likely cause problems.
 






if you already have the 4" drop brackets and decide to go with 6" springs you should be fine, as long as the camber/castor bushings are replaced by a competant shop.... there should be enough to make everything ok, or very close... however, sometimes it is not enough.....
 






This is not true, many 4" lift kits only use 2-3" drop brackets for the axle pivot, meaning the camber adjusters are already maxed out, you cannot add any lift if you already have the alignment maxed out

Which is why I said that you have to look at the angles of the front housings... :D
 






well what should i do if i want to upgrade my 4" lift kit to a 6" lift
 






Find out what camber shims you have in there now, measure teh drop on your axle pivot bracket compared to a stock bracket.......

Keep researching on these forums, somebody out there with your lift has tried this...

If you understand how the camber shims work, and can pull one out to see the number on it, then that would be very helpful.....

those spacers you posted will not work I dont think, the parts from Ford are better, cheap, and metal.
I am guessing your camber is already close to maxed out with your lift kit, so dont be surprised if they cannot align the truck witht eh F-150 spring seats under the coil. If it cannot be aligned you will have + camber which will cause it to drive like crap and wear out tires fiaster then you can buy them. To fix this you will need taller axle pivot drop brackets..this is speculation, but based n a few years of experience with aftermarket lifts, just not your Rough Country one.......

Yes you see how the bushing is rotated so the top of the ball joint is all the way in towards the engine, this picture shows the maximum camber correction available for the 4x4 TTB front end using a 2.25 degree shim.....
 






is a f150 spacer just bolt right in an explorer
 






on a 4x4 truck with the dana 35 TTB axle, yes it bolts right on, no mods needed, except alignment and cams
