When i bought my 01 sport I believe it had remote start and then they disconnected it.

But i am planning on getting remote start sometime soon.

i wanna get one before winter, and if theres a factory unit i can just plug it ill do that instead

No, Ford did not offer remort start on the 01 sport. I Have an 01 and the dealer brochure from 2001. Remort start is not an option. I have added remote start to mine. It takes a little extra work becasue our key has that chip in it that only lets the truck start if the key is within range. So I had to add an extra "black box" that is programed to the same "siganl" that the key gives off.

Does ford sell this black box? If not where did you buy it.
Thanks

Ford never offered a remote start from the factory. They did, however, offer a dealer-installed remote start unit that integrated with the PATS system instead of bypassing it. The early ones (circa late-90s) were trouble-prone. The ones they started selling around 2000/2k1 were made by CodeAlarm. When properly installed, they work fabulously.
