Just a heads up for everyone. I had the Ford remote start/alarm installed in my 06 XLT, and here is something they don't tell you until after you spend the several hundred dollars installing it. The Ford remote start/alarm package does not communicate with the door keypad, meaning that if you use the keypad to enter the truck, the alarm will go off. A huge let down, I was so looking forward to the door keypad convenience, unfortunately, it is a complete waste unless you like hearing the horn go crazy every time you enter the vehicle.
If anyone knows a way to make these two communicate, it would be great, my dealership isn't the most tech savvy. :thumbdwn:

That sucks...but thanks for the warning. I'm getting ready to move somewhere a little colder and was thinking the remote start would be nice....but I use the keypad all the time. I think Ford offers the remote start as a standalone module, so I may skip the alarm.

did your XLT come with the keypad from the factory or did you add it later?

Factory

It came from the factory with the keypad, and the dealership installed the Ford brand starter/alarm module.
