well i drove all the way to summit racing yesterday to get my body lift kit. me and my friend where going to install it today. well it didnt go to good.
i sprayed the bolts a couple times a few days before. anyway we started at the back. it the ratchet on the right rear bolt and we snapped it off!!! it broke like 2 inches down from the bolt head. tired the one beside it and it started to twist so we put the impact on it for like 5 minutes and it didnt budge. so we buttoned everything back up and called it a day lol. any ideas what to do? the threads for the bolts are a sleeve pressed into the rubber bushing correct? drill it out? we tried the one behind the drives seat and same thing, wouldnt budge with the ratchet or impact. my front tires are rubbing really bad so id really like to get it installed. thanks for the help, Jake

The body bolts are just a pain in the a@*. Use a big, long breaker bar and put some strength behind it.

As for the broken one, I have no idea what to do. But keep spraying them with PB blaster and you should be able to get them out.

thats the problem, we broke that one with a large ratchet, with minimal strength. i long breaker bar would have just be easier and faster to twist it in half haha

I think your pretty much stuck drilling it out man. You might want to invest in a propane torch. (the heat makes the metal expand which releases the factory locktite) You can pick up a craftsman propane torch kit at K-Mart for 30.00.

we thought about using a torch but what about the rubber bushing? i didnt want to melt it. maybe just have to go easy with the heat

Yeah you just have to be carefull...There are some threads around hear on that...Im sure if you did a search something will pop up

when i did mine i made my own. so instead of useing longer bolts i bought grade 5 1/2" all-thread and cut it to legnth. i made 1/4" thick washers on top and bottom along with lock washers and thread locker. if i were you i'd drill out and go this rout on any you break. you'll have to get the parts from a real hardware outfit. not an ace or home depot. and the all-thread may still be special order. hope this helps. also will need an x-long bit. i used 1/2" but 17/32" would have made it easier. don't go too big or you'll cut through the mounts

As shown in my thread on the 883, the prop torch really does make it infinitely easier, you just have to be careful about it. I would apply the flame directly vertical to the bottom of the bolt from underneath the truck, trying to minimize any contact with the bushing. As long as your careful with it, it's a breeze. Trust me on this, the torch is your best friend for releasing stuck bolts.
