Actually I'm not laughing that much about it cause it means I'll be without my X for a while.

137999 miles

the last 200 or so were with all the mods that I've done recently....probably what sent the thing to hell.

I was going up 95 and I noticed a LOT of smoke coming from behind my truck....so I pulled over and saw the that smoke was my tranny puking fluid all over the exhaust y pipe and burning it. There was also fluid all over the back of the truck. The fluid seemed to be coming from the seal where the bellhousing meets up with the motor.

I was not that surprised given how much of an increase over stock my HP is now....but I was suprised at how soon....even with a massive tranny cooler installed.

So now, I get to find out how much this is going to cost. I'm hoping what I can do is have the tranny shop do the 700r4 swap for me. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens.

Thats almost exactly how many miles i have now. O NO!

we can put better tranies in our explorers?????

You sissy, I've killed 3 A4LD's in a 1 1/2 year period.

J/K, good choice to do the 700R4, but I've also burned one of those up in a Chevy Van too !!!

Sounds like the classic front pump seal failure.

You may not need a full rebuild, just a new seal.

yeah....but this will be a pretty beefy 700r4. Very expensive unfortunately to do the swap....since I have to buy a tcase AND the tranny adaptors....both together are going to cost as much as the tranny. At least I'll be able to drive it hard though.

Yes look to spend ALOT to out the 700R4 in there.
About as much as 2 rebuilt A4LD's I would say

i awalys thought neutral dropping was good for it ;)

My A4LD is probably going to go bye-bye soon too. CLANKS every time it goes into neutral. I drive 17 miles to work and back each day at about 65-70 MPH, so I just hope that when it goes, it's at a lower speed...:)
