it took a while but i finally got all the parts together and lifted my sport with some 4dr leaf pack plus aal and a tt, and in the process changed lower ball joints, tierod ends, and spark plugs( i was almost time for those anyway). all it took was all f'ing weekend, 2 cans of pbblaster, 5 busted knuckles, 2- 12 packs of bud heavy, and a huge learning curve. but i must say when i stood back and looked "up" at my x it was all worth it! 31x10.50 , some steel rims(black) , sliders and "pre runner" bumpers are next! thank god i have a friend who can weld! thanks to every member of this site 'cause i couldnt have done it without the search feature. oh yeah sorry i didnt document the installs i didnt have the camera at the time plus i think evan did i fine job on the balljoints n tie rods, but enuff with the b/s heres some pics. hopefully these work sorry bout the pics my camera is a p.o.s. ill try to get better ones

oh yeah on my tt i got right under 2" on the drivers side but 2 1/4" on the pass. how bad will that fubar the cv axle? i know 2" is the high mark but is a1/4" too much? right now it is even all around, do i need to lower the front to keep from destroying the axles over time? thanx in adv.

You should measure how much down travel you have left in the front end before you decide to keep it that high. It might be okay since it has probably sagged a bit from it's height when it was new.
Measure the wheel to wheel-well height with the truck on the ground (both sides), and then measure it with both front wheels off the ground. I would want atleast 2" of downtravel available just to have a half-decent ride.
Plus the higher it is, the more strain there will be on the cv joints.

Looks great by the way. It will look 10x better with wheels and tires ;)

Nice man. What's with "Cave Explorer" though? Gotta be an explanation for that one.

there are quite a bit of caves here in kentucky, we actually have 2 nat'l caving events here each year, so since i "explore caves" and i found a website wih almost any chrome lettering, i ordered the letters also the bat sticker is popular among us "spelunkers"
the site http://chromeemblems.com/Default.aspx

Good stuff. I may use that site.

Thats a pretty cool site. BTW, your Explorer is lookin pretty good

Make sure you get an alignment done and you may want to look into the camber kit. I did't do neither and it didn't take long for my tires to be shot.

I did the F150 leaf swap and boy what a differance, I love it.

Looks good, do you have any before pics?

thanks guys
nc i had it aligned right after, they said it was out a mile on the right and 3/4 mi. on the left! it was pretty bad i hated driving the 3 miles to the shop i also had bought the camber kit but they said i didnt need it, i still have it, should it have been put on anyway?

brian wilson- i measured today and i only have 1 inch of down travel looks like ill be lowering:(the front i can only assume that im gonna need another dam alignment after, it does ride kinda rough but i expected that from prev. posts but im willin to tuff it out i guess i think im gonna wait till i get the rims and tires unless you guys advise otherwise

:Da steelworker who ive helped out on my jobsite before was lookin at my hard work on the x said he would give me pretty much all the angle iron, 2.5x2.5 tube and 2x4 tube i need:D the only thing is that its at least 1/4 or a lil bigger and effin heavy, the angle might be a lil lighter
would steel that heavy be good for bumpers and sliders?

nice sport u got there keep up the good work

update

:Di just ordered a set of 15x8-3.75bs U.S. Wheel 84 Series Black Daytona Wheels from summit for $48/ea because nobody in the 3 counties surrounding mine had any rim close to that price:mad:, like $85 +s/h and 1-3 wks out! F*#^ that!summit ships in less than a wk. i would have got the soft 8s but i wanted to sick with the same backspacing. to wrap the daytonas i chose 31/10.50 kumho at's since it still my d/d . all in all not a bad deal for less than $800 with an alignment since im tweakin my tbars down a 1/2" for more downtravel.
should all be done by wed. and ill have some pics to add i might have my light brackets fabbed up by then too:cool:
