As time would have it, our 96 F-150 became a bit more than I could keeping it reliable and on the road. The couple of 150's we had over the years were great to work on and drive, but with the upper windshield metal that was patched under the cab roof leaking again and a screw up of mine not making sure the progressive throttle link was securely snapped on (my wife called from the side of the freeway that the accelerator was broke) we bought a used 2010 Mountaineer AWD.
One thing I have to say no matter if it was a bench or bucket seat, Ford makes the best seats even with age they get a bit saggy. I never walked hunch backed exiting the vehicles like other makes of cars we drove. My first impression is that the ride and steering are a little more trucky than the 150 but probably due to the shorter wheelbase and it being newer than I was used to. Anyway I hope the axle seals that appear to be seeping lube a little bit aren't that expensive. I'm a little short on simple diy space and usually the proper tools to get a project like that accomplished. I hope it gives us the same years of satisfaction the 150's did plus its probably the last the SUV made on a truck frame. I'll be back to the forum on a weekly or monthly basis checking on what other Explorer/Mountaineer owner's are saying so have a good rest of the summer. See you in the forums.
