Fitting a larger tire

I'm just now about to buy some 31's for my X. I was wondering if I mounted a spare tire, would it still fit in the factory position, or would I have to build a tire mount?

Most X's can fit a 31 spare without many problems. Some hitches cause trouble though. On mine, the tire goes up most of the way but then swings side to side. So it's up in there, but I have a bungie to keep it from rocking.
