Try a quick search, there are tons of us with flowmasters on. I'm happy with the results.

Personally I didn't notice any performance gains. But that wasn't what I was going for. I did it more for noise.

I have a 2 1/2" Flowmaster 40 Delta on mine..sounds great. Summit also has a complete flowmaster setup if you don't want to piece one together...

hey thanx alot thats what i wanted to hear i think im gonna start savin and throw a pair on.

I am running Flowmasters with a 3" exhaust. It sounds great!! I love the noise. But I have a single muffler. Less weight than 2 mufflers and dual exhaust.

I ahve a Super 40, no cats and 2.5 in ch plumbing.

Vids are in my sig, i love the sound perosnally, its just like a v-8

hmm i cut mine off befor the cats...maybe i should look into this.

flowmaster is a muffler for a person who wants a great sound! (if your not already too sick of hearing them on mustangs!)

Theres almost minimal to zero performance gains.

If you want a muffler that will give you higher performance gains, and possibly a good sound, then I'de recommend that you go with Magnaflow. They price about the same but flow better and have always surpassed Flowmaster gains.

I have flowmaster 40 series on my truck right now and i had flowmaster 40 series on my explorer and it sound good with nothing else on it but the flowmaster lol but like i few others said i did it for the sound nothing is better then that flowmaster sound:thumbsup:

IMO for the V6 explorer, I have not heard anything that sounds better than a Flowmaster 40 series, both the super and regular. They both make it sound as if there was an 8 under the hood(if thats what you want).

IMO if you want performance, you goto do more than exhaust to the OHV, max you'll see maybe 10 horse.

I'm guessing i got about 5-10, and i took off the cats too.

It would depend on what you are looking to get out of it, But why put a muffler on it at all. It is perfectly legal not ot have a muffler (unless you have noise restrictions where you live). I used to have a 90 Ranger & had a muffler shop make me a Y pipe and slapped it on the back of my CAT and ran duals out the back. I plan to do the same with my 92 X. It sounded great, not sure what gains I got from it, but I had zero restrictions.

yea that theory all depends on where your at in the great US of A.

In Jersey, if I fart too loud I can get a ticket for a noise ordinance violation.

I've been pulled over 10+ times, just so a cop can ask me "You got a muffler on that thing, boy?"

its just silly....

ya the cops around here pull you over doesnt matter if its onroad or off road style if it looks anything but stock your gettin pulled over i put a tach in my ranger and a alum. tube grille and boy i been pulled over 3 times in one week and i still dont have my lic havnt had em for over a year goin on a year an a half because of my truck lol and about 200 bucks left on my fines my exhaust and few other minor things iv done to it dont help out

Hey FrameLayer,

PLEASE tell me you left some critical piece of info out of that post, like too much speeding or something...

Are you trying to say that you LOST YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE because of truck mods???

If that's true, I'll never drive through PA again...

Mike

sorry to say some areas are realy bad who ever is in charge of the inspection laws are trying to make it so we cant pass anything on a car unless it comes from factory with it installed... no i wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong just pulled into a little town for gas not to far from where i live and bang first time loud exhaust... and about a week or so later got nailed again for my exhaust this time it was louder then the first time he pulled me over ...out of both them fines i had almost 400 bucks then not even a week after the second time he nailed me again for not wearing my seatbelt then a case of beer witch at the time i was 20 and my girl friend was 21 also a 22 rifle that i still to this day haven't got back so after all that i had another 200 some dollars on top of the 400 then they ####ed me over saying i didn't pay when i did so i lost my lic. over all that

Jersey is the same, i live on a small coastal island, and whenever i go out for a ride, i have to MAKE SURE that my tach doesn't go over 2000, if i do and a cop is close by its over for me and i have another 250$ ticket.

To add to the fun, whenever i decide to do a mod or anything to my truck...I hear **** about it.

Just yesterday i had the cops called on me for revving my engine up IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY. I sank it in some mud + ice(see my garage) and needed to make sure everything was ok.

Cop said.... "boy, you goto keep the noise down."
My re-butle.. "get off of my property!".

Fun day needless to say.

and as for inspection, come that time of the year, i unbolt from my collector back and re-install the stock system.

Yikes...

Under 21 with beer in the truck will get you screwed just about anywhere, regardless of how many people in the car are over 21. I almost found this out the hard way once (very long story), got very lucky that the cop was bored, but not that bored...

I don't know how "normal" it is to have a gun in the truck where you live, but that probably wouldn't go over well in NE either.

We won't even talk about the cops in NJ, that place has a reputation all its own.

Noise ordinances suck everywhere. They just give people with no lives (who do nothing but sit in their houses and watch the neighbors all day, thinking they're better than everyone else) something to do (like call the cops so they can feel important).

OK, I may have over-simplified that last point... Noise ordinaces have a place during sleeping hours, but that's when the yahoos are out with the blasting subwoofers that shake your house windows from 3 blocks away, yet they never get caught.

Mike
