I changed my transmission fluid, filter and installed d rings on reverse servo. I also re-torque the value body bolts. Now the transmission doesn't engage, no forward or reverse. When the dip stick is out I hear a gurgling noise. I measured all the fluid that drained and replaced the same amount.

I replaced the fluid before with no issue, this change included the d rings on the reverse servo so wondering if something went wrong with that.

Before I drop the pan again I'm hoping to get some ideas as what might be wrong.

Thanks in advance,
John

John what vehicle, engine, and final drive are you referring to? I am wondering if you have a RWD filter in a 4x4 pan...

RWD Ranger 5R55E Transmission. Would a 4x4 filter fit? I have the box and will double check the model numbers.

Thanks
John

Here is an update. The dip stick showed over filled, tested off and cold. I pumped out 2 quarts and the gurgling noise has stopped but still no gears. I noticed that nothing is pumping out of the transmission cooler return line. Hopefully this might be a good clue to what might be wrong.

Thanks
John

Did you put the Orings on the new filter?

I put the o-rings on the filters before installing. I'm going to open it up again tomorrow and check the filter. I'll post an up afterwards.

Keep the ideas coming

Got to fix this, I need the truck!

Thanks
John

Embarrassing Post

We'll tore it apart today and everything looked good. Replaced the filter just because and started to pour in the transmission fluid. When all of a sudden it occurred to me, this is a different hole.

I'm my haste last weekend I removed the yellow oil dipstick and not the yellow transmission dip stick. UGH!!!!!

So after a quick oil change and new transmission oil everything seems fine.
