No matter where I search (including here) I can not seem to find out what the difference is between the XLT and Limited factory fog lamps. I am ready to replace my old, yellow, dingy ones with new ones, but I only seem to find the 'un'Limited ones. To me the look the same, but we all know the nuances of the auto world and I will end up with the wrong parts. Can anyone steer me in the right direction, please? I am going with the clear headlights as well (I loved them when I changed them on my 95 XLT) and going HID heads and fogs, so I figure new housings are best.

Thanks!:D

They should be the same. As far as I can tell from the service manual, they're the same part (they don't specify anything different for a limited than they do for a non-limited)

I did manage to peek as best I could and it looks like the bracket is way different...Ford lists a different price, but I can't pull a part number. I guess I'll be back at the dealer once again...sigh

thanks for the info though

I wish I could just crawl under there and look

Are they round or rectangular?

I am in the process of R/R'ng my 98 XLT's right now. They are rectangular. I have them removed from my truck and will be remounting them tomorrow.

Rectangluar. But not attached to a bracket like the XLT. looks like the bumper is the bracket. Ugh. Maybe I should just get them from Ford. Brain surgery sucks, I miss just being able to crawl around under stuff and figure it all out. :( oh well. I guess I'll just nafta get used to this.

Sorry for that downer, just that I really know my way around cars and I feel like I'm asking where do I put the gas, you know? LOL.

I really do appreciate the help though.

NP - we all need help every now and then :)

If it helps, my housings have part #F58B-15K258-AC molded into them. They also say "40.0 watt bulb max". They are held in by a bracket that attaches with a 5/8" nut and washer accessible in the front of the wheel well. The bracket appears to provide adjustability for up and down aiming. The light housing attaches to the bracket with a small torx fastener going into a molded thread. There is also a slot on the top of the housing that slides over the bracket to help hold it in place.

yes. that's a big help. the XLT is very different. I did mine and it was only 2 15mm hex bolts that held the whole assembly right to inside edge of the bumper. bottom line is I should not be looking at XLT fogs at all...I'll get the ones I saw at the dealer at some point.

Thanks for all of the replies! :D
