Is there anyone who can provide me with a contact at Ford to ask a technical question? Specifically, I'm interested in understanding whether it's necessary to replace the retaining rings on the inner axles when replacing the CV joints (half-axles) on my Explorer. The Ford shop manual says you should, the dealer says it isn't necessary.
Perhaps a district service manager, or equivalent would be helpful.
