I have looked for some frame mounted receivers and I have seen some that are way ugly. The tube of the hitch sticks way down. I have seen a few that look great but they have all been on the freeway and I can't tell what brand, they have where only the 2" receiver part is about all that hangs below the bumper the rest is tucked in. Have looked on here but haven't found what I am looking for. Any help or ideas on what brands have called a bunch and they have sent picks but all I have called have hung down.

True I am in the process of making rock sliders now so they are taking up my time for a bit. Want one that looks like this if we can't find out the brand then I'll just make my own.

Cool thanks for looking, I like the look if its the one on CDW6212R's. But for the price I will make my own I think :) That seems high for one but then again it looks the best to I guess.

Heres my 04 mounty.
Class III/4 Towhitch
(it CLAIMED to be able to fit over the stock hitch, but it just WOULDNT unless i did some serious lube work or took a dremel and shaved alittle metal off!)

It obviously hangs very low...however I just got a 5 inch Hitch Tongue and flipped it upside down.
It tows EXCELLENT, NEVER even feel it behind me when im towing.

the ONLY thing i dont like is when i step up on the bumper, it kinda caves Down alittle...because the stock tow hitch actually Supports the bumper alittle-bit......not alot....just alittle bit.
Its not a big deal at all though.

Thats a third generation -- different from the poster's second generation: the bumper is a lot thicker (height wise) and therefore is easier to hide a hitch on a third gen (and it even has a notch for a hitch).

But to the original poster -- why the need for a tucked hitch? Cauz it'll help protect your bumper from things. I once backed up to a low concrete wall w/o knowing it (at night). If the hitch wasnt there, the bumper would have been pushed upwards.

Very true and quick question for third gen hitch? Why did you want to replace the factory one? It looks like the V8 version which comes with the 2" receiver from the factory doesn't it?

IZwack, mainly for personal preference I guess. I like the look A lot better. I come close to and do rub it as it is a little so I feel with it all hanging down that I would be hitting it all the time. I know the receiver part would still be there and would rub but want it real close to the bottom of the bumper up as high as it can go if that makes sense?

try ebay. they have a few i think you would like for $125.

The hitch on a 3rd gen is integrated into the frame. It's not a simple matter of un-bolting it and replacing it. You have to cut out a section of the rear frame, then purchase a rear sub-assembly that includes the hitch.

My hitch is the Hidden Hitch 75083, first made for the 15" tire Explorers. The listing now mentions fitting bigger wheels. The square versions should have more tire clearance if you have much bigger tires. My spare is 30" tall and fits after trimming some of the hitch. Regards,

My mounty didnt come with a class 3 hitch, it was a class 2.
(at the time, i didnt know you could hook up a 2 inch ball on a stock class 2 hitch, i kept seeing 1 1/2 balls or something...so i just replaced the whole hitch, lol)

I just unbolted the stock hitch, then unbolted some of the bumper and took out the tail lights, thus giving me enough room to Slide out the stock hitch.

Then just bolted up the Class 3 hitch.

I just hated the look of the stock hitch, it's too small looking.
It was driving me nuts, i just COULDN'T stand looking at it.

I agree they look dumb to me to, I thought that the V8's always came with a class three hitch, thats why I was confused and so now I know why you cut it out and put a class three on it :)

Hidden Hitch

Check with your local U-Haul store i bought mine there for 135.00 dollars and then put it on in about 20 min's. sorry no pics but its like the hidden hitch you have posted earlier tubular and flush with the bumper.

I just bought one. Here is the website. The hitch I got is a class IV tube design and almost fully hidden. No drilling and took me 20min to install.
www.ValleyTrailerHitch.com Good luck and hope this helps.
