Hello!
'99 Explorer XLT 4wd

Have read much on here that "if you remove the front axle ... your parking brake will not work".

Is the parking brake not just a steel cable applying pressure to the rear disk brake pads?

I dont see the connection here to the front axel.

It's the v8 trucks with awe that will slip without the front driveshaft. While in park the viscous coupler will slip and allow the truck to roll. If the emergency brake is set it will keep it from rolling.

OK ... then am I to understand then that the "rear" drive shaft is also "fluid coupled" as well?
