So my teenage son ran into another car in our '96 Explorer. The other car wasn't damaged (low speed) but he pushed the front bumper of our car down and under several inches. The bumper is fine, just jammed down. I took it off today and the 4 brackets that attach to the frame look like they were bent. I am guessing the bumper is designed to take a low speed accident by letting these brackets give -??

Nedd some advive, looks like I could just buy 4 new brackets and the bolts and put the new bumper back on - any of you'all done this kind of work? Looks simple but I am wary, maybe more to it than I think.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You're correct, just get new brackets and bolts (if they're bent) and you should be fine. Good luck!

Just make sure you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for at least 2 minutes before you work on it to disarm the airbag sensors.
