Can you use 75w-140 in the front diff of a 2002 explorer? 4.6L V8, does some heavy towing about once a month.

You could but its awfully thick compared to the 75w90/80w90 Ford recommends.

Yeah, but I had a dumba** moment today and grabbed the wrong bottle. Just wondering if it will be alright or if I need to drain it and put in 75w-90.

It's a "nothing special/garden variety" differential. It won't add up to a hill of beans.

i heard one shop guy uses 75-140w on rebuilds front/rear full synthetic. Only reason why they used 75w90/80w90 in the factory is to save costs, half the price.
