How can i check my bearings in my front differental and if they are bad how hard is it to replace the bearings? My other question is there anything i have to be careful of when replacing the bearings in the front differental? Any help would be nice Thanks

Are you talking about the front diff carrier bearings?

If those are the bearings that are internal then yes. Im sorry i dont know the exact name for them just that there is a rebuild kit for the internal bearings. It sounds like the left outer.

Well, what I was shown was to put the truck on a lift and use a mechanic's stethoscope to run it in 4 wd (slow speed should do it) and listen to each bearing until you find the offender. A bad bearing is very obvious using this method. This is dangerous so you should just pay a shop to do it for you if you are not totally comfortable doing it. Actually, even if you are comfortable, have a shop do it. It should only cost you a small amount. Don't want to see someone get hurt...

Okay but if I tear the front diff. apart by myself is there anything I have to be careful of when taking it apart?

I would suggest that you buy a maintenance manual if you don't have the experience. search for a thread, maybe someone has already done it?
