I have a 2000 4x4 Explorer Sport. I am having trouble removing the front drive shaft, and would like to find out where I am going wrong.

The connection between the drive shaft and the transfer case is a cv-type coupling, with 6, 8mm bolts (which I removed). The other end of the driveshaft has a u-joint with 4, t-30 bolts (which I also removed).

What do I need to do to get the drive shaft out? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kick the driveshaft with your shoe. If its on jackstands and you are afraid of the vehicle crashing down, then use a dead blow hammer.

They are a PITA to remove Ive always used a long flathead screwdriver on the Diff end and pryed against the u-joint, its always worked for me. The cv end compresses a little so it can be removed...........or as stated above beat the hell out of it :)
