2001 Explorer Sport Trac
Hi guys,
I have a strange clunking noise coming from the driver's side front (or middle) of my2001 Sport Trac w/150k miles. I had the lower ball joints, stabilizer bushings and all four shocks replaced. The clunk (or bang) only occurs when I'm on a washboard road or a road with packed but uneven snow. My mechanic, who is very good, is stumped. I did find a 3/8 x 1-1/4 bolt in my driveway some time ago, but cant find where it may have come from. Just wondering if it may be something to do with the torsion bars..
Please holler if you've had any similar problem.
My thanks to all of you guys that have posted threads to help us out.

Check the front axle damper. That bolt size is reasonable for that.
