Front Seat regulator motor repair

Sorry this took so long, but, the shift shaft disintegrated and demanded to be addressed FIRST. Anyway, it is so fantastic. My seat moves in all of the proper directions now. And, you guys were right. Easy peasy. Could have done it with my eyes closed. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am eternally grateful.

FYI, the seat motors for both sides are identical for a given model range, other than the Limited left seat motors. Those have an extra wiring connector and internal sensors of some kind.

The motors are not obvious in how to remove them, but it doesn't take long once you figure it out. Cleaning and lubricating the old mechanisms would be very wise. The same goes for the sunroof parts, and door latches etc. Over many years those all need help, the grease dries out or gets displaced, and dirt contaminates it etc.

The problem with the Explorer's power seat is the nylon gear(s) like the one in the picture. These wear out over time and either need to be replaced or just get another power seat track.

I see this thread is old but I am working with the tracks now. The motor set can be removed with the up/down actuators and the horizontal actuators can be removed. The little motors can also be completely taken apart. Each motor has a thermistor to keep it from overheating. It can have the copper bars soldered together to defeat it. The issue I have with them is they are noisy and rough after I put them back together. Any ideas?

Also the tracks that slide are extremely difficult to move by hand, I have to hammer on them to get them to move. They move in the vehicle but every one I have had is brutally difficult to move disassembled. Those little motors must be torque monsters to be able to move them!
