Front Squeeks

I have a 1996 XL 4.0l, The front lower ball joints were replaced in Sept. Now the front end drivers frnot is again squeeking badly. Do these vehicles have a problem with the ball joints ? It could be a Bushing ?
Also, is synthetic trans fliud a good idea ?
