The tires on the front are worn on the inside (both of them), what may be the cause(s)? Also the ABS light just came on, and will not go off. It's a 2000 Explorer XLT.

Thanks,
Ted

also could be a worn hub as well. This will cause abs light to come on as well as can contribute to the tire wear.

Could be hubs, if so, they'll be going out fairly quickly, and you'll get a new ABS sensor.

My best guess (for the front tire wear) would be ball joints, do some searches, very common problem.

The ABS light could be one of three sensors, again, do some searches, many threads on that.

Very possible the two things aren't related. Check the resistance of each of the sensors, should be in the 1200-1500 range if memory serves. If one is shorted, or infinite resistance, you have your culprit. If not, clean them as you test them, problem may just disappear after the cleaning.

I'd put money on the ball joints being bad.

You didn't mention how many miles were on it.

110k miles

Ok, I just jacked up my truck, I have play on the driver's side (about 1/4" up and down, and sideways). There is no play on the passenger's side, but both tires are worn on the inside.

Also the tie rod ends are tight.

Now my question is do I need to replace both the ball joints and hubs?
