Front wheel bearings loosening

OK does anyone know why the front wheel bearings always seem to loosen up?? I don't do any 4 -wheelin and haven't nailed any curbs or anything.

Using stock tire sizing. anyone else have any bearing problems??

Everbody with the D35 has bearing problems, if you torque them by the book = problems.

Do a search.........
 






Do you have AUTO or MANUAL lock hubs? If you have AUTO locks, the retainer key(s) could be missing. If manuals, then the outer nut may not be torqued tight enough. Since you state "Using stock tire sizing", are you running stock rims with stock off-set? If oversized tires or too much off-set, you'll place excessive pressure on the outer spindle area which will cause the lock nuts to loosen up. Just a couple of things to look at.
 






Auto hubs w/ keyed locknut(in tact). Just seems like the truck always shakes and the wheel bearings seem to loosen up.

Stock rims and sometimes balancing tires has helped smooth out but never gets rid of the vibration totally.
 






Mine used to loosen until I got a wheel nut wrench and HEAVED the outer nut tight. Someone told me to try for 180ft/lbs on it. I didn`t have a torque wrench so I just put all my weight on it. Couple months with no problems yet.
 






I tried really getting one snug one time, and all that happened is that all the grease was squeazed from the bearing and it burnt out and had to be replaced in a couple months later.

Just seems like haven't found the happy medium. heh..
 






Auto-Lock hubs are very particular about their torque specs. Try this procedure (Correct One). Torque the wheel bearings to 35 ft/lbs while rotating the rotors to properly seat the wheel bearings. Then back off 1/4 turn and re-torque to 16 in/lbs. This is the proper specs for these guys.
