I am planning to change the fuel filter on my 1999 OHV x-VIN explorer. Is there a relay or fuse that I can pull to relieve the fuel pressure? I recently changed the fuel filter on my 2003, and there was a relay that I was able to pull on that vehicle. beats messing around with the schrager valve and getting gas on the engine. Does anyone have a good method?

I pulled the fuel pump fuse under the hood on mine.

Further, it is a good idea to bleed the Schrader valve.

Good luck ...

Thanks, Do you remember what # fuse you pulled?

I actually removed them both...What have i done by removing the PCM relay?

It won't start without the PCM relay. If you have fuel pressure in the line from before, it could run for a second or two before it dies. I guess it doesn't really matter since you are only relieving the excess pressure in the fuel rail, and not driving it. It's not necessary to unplug both relays.

I unplugged #5 and #9 and the sucker just kept running. It worked to relieve the fuel pressure though. Filter change is complete. Thanks.
