Does anyone know how to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter! I already disconnect the filter from the mount ( the metal bracket thingy). I put bad gas in and I think that is the best way to get it out! Open for suggestions! It is a 1992 XLT 4.0

You'll need to get a special tool to release the spring inside the fitting to separate the fitting from the filter. The tool comes in a set of different sizes for different size lines and can also be used for A/C. Mine wasn't too expensive. Good luck and don't get splashed with gas.

it is a >$10 plastic thing that is also sold at kragens parts america

Thanks

I about forced it out! Is there any other way I can get the gas out?

go get the disconect tool, it will be worth it in the long run, and if you did put bad gas in it, you might want to change out that filter also to be on the safe side
Other ways to get the gas out are, sypon it out, drop the tank... neither of which are any fun

Hi I am about to do mine. Here is what the kit looks like.
It also cost about 10.00 , but theres differnet sizes inside the package.
The item was scanned so the quaity does suck,, but you still get the idea.

Good Luck!

Savage is right. I don't know how long you've been working on vehicles, but having done my own work for 30 some years, and wasted mucho time, busted many knuckles and broken many parts (not to mention make-shift tools) I've found it's a lot better - can you say "easier" to buy or borrow the proper tool for the job. Those jerks in Detroit are trying to keep us from doing stuff at home anymore, what with all the special tools needed. Just ask a mechanic how much he needs to spend on new tools each year.....it'll make your head spin.
