Hello, I was wondering what most of the experts here are using to clean their fuel systems. I have used either Redline Fuel system cleaner, Lucas or Techron every 3k since I bought my ride. She runs good but I am curious about other methods.

I notice that Ford dealerships and other mechanic shops like Pep Boys, offer a special fuel system cleaning involving pressurized cleaners being pumped into the inectors from an external source? It costs around $50 or so. The dealership told me it should be done every 50,000 mile. I change my fuel filter at the scheduled intervals and only use mobil gas- wonder if I need to do this. If not what is the prefered injector cleaner??

Sounds to me like what you are doing know is overkill.
Too much cleaner can actually do more harm than good, especially to 02 sensors and cat converters, as well as spark plugs.

I have found that Sea Foam is the most effective cleaner to use, in fact it has completely cured clogged injector problems with just a couple applications through the fuel tank.

I use red line fuel system treatment on occassion as well.

The backflush injector service works well too, however its not really needed unless your engine is showing signs of power loss due to leaky/dirty injectors.
If you do the backflush, dont trust grease monkeys, have a real shop do it, too much harm can be done when done wrong or with the wrong cleaners.

BG products are excellent for cleaning/flushing.

Just run a bottle of a name brand fuel injector cleaner every oil change or two and use seafoam in a tank a few times. Like 410 said, don't overkill it

Where can seafoam be purchased?

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to try it.

I also use seafoam through a vacumn line to clean out the upper intake and T/B area. That stuff is truly awesome for cleaning out your engine.

Run a can in the tank and then get a can and pull off a vacumn line and start the motor, let it sip the seafoam from the can at a high idle. Don't be alarmed if you see some heavy smoke for a few minutes or more. The PCV and emissions systems on newer vehicles really sludges up the upper intake tracts because they are dry manifolds with EFI (no fuel goes thru the intake anymore to clean it like the old carb'd cars).

I read this on the Seafoam site about the vacum line. Which vacum line do you use? How much RPM do you run?

Can anybody Provide some insight as to which vacum tube to pull off preferably for a SOHC V6? Also how much seafoam should you let pass through the sytem? The whole Pint??

Thanks for any info this seems like a worthwhile maintenance procedure.
