When I shut off the key the fuel pump keeps running. Sometimes it shuts off in a few minutes. If I open the hood and tap the fuse panel on the passenger side of the truck the pump stops.

Help what is going on.

Fuel pump relay

The culprit is most likely the pesky little fuel pump relay under the power distribution box. I can't remember which one it is under there (there's about 3 to 5 others under there as well) just tap on them until you get the right one.
Dex.

Yep, It's the fuel pump relay. I had the same problem a few months ago. The parts department at your ford dealer can show you a diagram of which relay is the fuel pump relay (I want to say it is the rear one, but I don't recall for certain). I know the front one is for the air conditioner, so it's either the middle one of or the rear one. It doesn't take much to free the relay, so by the time you get down to the relay, you will have banged around enough to free it up. Therefore any testing you do on it will show it to be okay.

Go to your dealer and tell them what you need and ask which of the three relays it is.

Good luck!
