Fuel Pump Question

Ok, I believe my fuel pump is going on me, it takes longer then usual to start on a cold start, and when it's warm outside it takes even longer. This never started happening until the fuel filter was replaced. I'm thinking my pump was bad then too, but since it had never been depressurized, the pressure was staying there. Now that it had been depressurized for the new filter to be installed, I'm thinking the pump doesn't have enough power to build the needed pressure back. Is this a possibility or could it may be a filter problem?

If the filter was extreemly dirty it is quite possible that the pump is history. If the vehicle is opperated with a clogged filter it puts an extreem strain on the pump. Replacing the filter may allow the pump to run normally, but the strain of forcing fuel through the old filter ruined the pump.

Don't know if this makes a darn bit of differance but was the filter installed correctly? Flow ->

It was done at a shop, so I assume..

How can u tell that your filter needs to be changed??

try the fuel pump relays that was the problem with my x and i had all the same problems you have

Are the relays those big blocks under the hood in that little panel on the passenger side next to the air box? Think I need new ones?

Where would I buy one of these relays? I see Schucks has them, but some are $4.00, and one is $30...

Ok. I bought a new relay at Schucks for $6.00 - It started with the new one, but it had already been started not long before that, so we'll see tomorrow if the problem was the relay. Hopefully! Thanks everyone!
