well, i have narrowed the surge, missing issue down to fuel pressure.
ran vehicle for 200 + miles and was able to duplicate failures.
conditions were always at least 90 deg f. fuel press was 65psi until slow driving, would fall to 20 and ocilliate, engine followed suit.
the haynes manual says to check regulator, but vehicle is only equipped with damper on injector rail. i will replace the pump, as i have no confidence in it, but the question remains: why does the manual say to check something the vehicle is obviously not equipped with? note: the fender vacuum chart also only lists a dampner.
does anybody have any reliable tech data that shows the changes, or can recommend a more concise manual?
it is interesting to note that 2 fuel pumps are available, with different output pressures. thanks all
