The guys running the Axxess key machine are full of crap. I've had 2 spare metal keys made in case I get stupid and lock my keys in the truck. I have SecuriLock (PATS-II) and Lowe's and Home Depot both cut me a basic key from my very obviously transponder key and never commented about "not being allowed" to do it. The lil girl at Lowe's did comment to me that the key she made for me wouldn't start it. It'd be nice to have a transponder key that could fit in my wallet.
I've been looking at these integrated keys since I found them on eBay. I was about to email Ford 5 minutes before I found this thread. Has anyone found these keys for less than $50?
Oh yeah, and when I first bought my Ex, I asked about what happened if I lost one of my keys.
$80 computer service charge
$35 for the key
$45 for the keyless remote
------
$160 and minimum of 2 hours lost outta my day. (my dealer is 30 minutes away)

actually yes... idk if they accidently sent me two but i have an extra key if u would like to buy it from me for 40... its a regular ford fusion key with integrated keyless entry

how do you think we make money at the dealership....lol
all joke aside it takes about 10-15 mins to gain security access using the ids....but we can charge pretty mutch what ever we want...we used to get an hour and a half to program keys and remotes now we get an hour labor..

What buttons does the fusion key have? Glass pop? I am considering transplanting a PATS chip, but I want a key with only the buttons I need.

You'll need the Edge key in that case. They don't have the trunk button. Let me know how the transplant goes. I'd really like to do this.

Hey I will grab that key from you if you are still looking to unload it.

Your PMs are full too BTW <--- tried to send you one

LOL... Hey, being a smart@$$ is my job. =-D
What would be really awesome is if Ford had the integrated keys in a clear case. I used to find PATS keys with clear heads where you could see the chip. I would have bought one for my Explorer, but apparently it's too old. =-(

And BigApple, is your $40 including shipping? And What's your preferred payment? I can do USPS Money Order, or PayPal. (Okay, so I'm a bit addicted to eBay.)

well i think the only fair way to settle this one is to give it first come first serve so ill have to give it to the fatness dude... fatness, i sent u a PM, but know that you have to have two regular factory keys for the programming because a ford dealer will claim it wont work and wont program it for you because its really made for a ford fusion... it costs like 90 bucks to have another made and if you dont have two factory keys im gunna send it to MC... MC, if you have two factory keys and fatness doesnt, then you will be the new owner for 40 bux plus shipping from baton rouge LA

I appreciate it. Yeah, I still have both the original keys and transmitters. So did you get yours to open the liftgate glass too? An earlier post made it sound like I'd only have lock, unlock, and panic that'd work. If Fatness can't use it, PM me with your address and I'll get a money order out. or paypal.

actually it worked fully functional with my 02... the lock, unlock, panic, and rear hatch buttons all functioned properly... and ive never shipped a package before since im only 18 and all haha but what all goes into paying through paypal? if its a pain in the ass the money order is always the perfect fallback, and im not sure if my paypal is fully functional... i bought the key thru ebay but idk if the whole paypal sign in worked... never fully understood it

well, shipping will depend on what your preference is. most people just wrap it, box it, and take it to the post office. a key should be less than $10 with insurance. if you don't wanna fool with packing, there's always FedEx/Kinko's or UPS Store. UPS is usually cheaper than FedEx and more reliable than USMail.
PayPal is pretty simple, and a good thing to have if you buy from ebay often. you just link it to a credit card or checking account and then your purchases come straight from the card or account. and it's secure too. I've never been ripped off with it. when you get money by paypal, I know if you have a checking account, paypal deposits it directly to the account, but I'm not sure what it does if you only link a card. to send or recieve with paypal, all you have to have is the email address.
Geeze... I sound like a commercial.
but you're right, usps money order is a good fallback. almost as good as cash.
most packages take 5-7 days door to door, or if you wanna shell an arm and a leg, there's overnight. unless it's something of dire importance, overnight isn't worth it.

This is a very interesting thread.
Can somebody confirm the lowdown for me....:

1:
Any uncut Fusion key from Ebay is good, right? Even if they don't specifically mention 2004 Explorer, etc... What they currently offer is said to be good for 2007-2008 Five Hundred, Taurus, Freestyle, Escape, Focus, Fusion, Edge.
It will still work on a 3rd gen EX, right??

2:
Programming procedure for TRANSMITTER (from manual):

To reprogram the remote entry
transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition.
3. Turn the key from the 1 (LOCK) position to 3 (ON).
4. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (LOCK)
position and 3 (ON). Note: The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON)
position.
5. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming
mode has been activated.
6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again.
7. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that this remote entry
transmitter has been programmed.
8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.
9. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position after you have finished
programming all of the remote entry transmitters.
10. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming
mode has been exited.

3:
Programming procedure for KEY (from manual):

Programming spare keys
You can program your own coded keys to your vehicle.
Tips:
• A maximum of eight keys can be coded to your vehicle.
• Only use Securilock keys.
• You must have two previously programmed coded keys (keys that
already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed
key(s) readily accessible.
• If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, you must
take your vehicle to your dealer to have the spare key(s)
programmed.
Please read and understand the
entire procedure before you begin.
1. Insert the first previously
programmed coded key into the
ignition.
2. Turn the ignition from the 1 (OFF) position to the 3 (ON) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least three seconds, but
no more than 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position and remove the first coded
key from the ignition.
4. Within ten seconds of turning the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position,
insert the second previously coded key into the ignition.
5. Turn the ignition from the 1 (OFF) position to the 3 (ON) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least three seconds, but
no more than 10 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position and remove the second
previously programmed coded key from the ignition.
7. Within twenty seconds turning the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position
and removing the previously programmed coded key, insert the new
unprogrammed key (new key/valet key) into the ignition.
8. Turn the ignition from the 1 (OFF) position to the 3 (ON) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least three seconds but
not more than 10 seconds.
9. Remove the newly programmed coded key from the ignition.
If the key has been successfully programmed it will start the vehicle’s
engine and the theft indicator light will illuminate for three seconds and
then go out.
If the key was not successfully programmed, it will not start your
vehicle’s engine and the theft indicator light will flash on and off, and
you may repeat Steps 1 through 5. If failure repeats, bring your vehicle
to your dealer to have the new key(s) programmed.
To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), wait twenty seconds
and then repeat this procedure from Step 1.

alrite well i kno of a UPS store around here i can bring it to and i can probably send it in its original package, which is just a carboard slip maybe a little bigger than an envelope... paypal is linked to my debit card so if theres any way u could transfer that, it would probably be easiest... send me a PM and we'll work something out

as long as u have at least 2 existing keys, then ur good to go... i have an 02 explorer and the key i bought on ebay said 04+ it would work on explorers but it works perfect on mine... no worries

I'd always cut the keys at Lowe's. I'd give the lecture about how it wouldn't start the vehicle, just unlock the doors. Normally thats what the customer was looking for anyways.

Just thought I would throw in a comment and ask a question.

First there is NO WAY to implant the chip from another key into the Fusion key. You can open the fusion key but all you have access to is the battery everything else is sealed up. I used a dremmel and opened one up for the heck of it and there is NO room to get anything in there.

I tried programming a key to work with my Mach 1, I did get the keyless to work but for some reason could not get PATS to program to the new key.

I think I am going to try another Fusion key on the Mach and see if maybe the first one was just a fluke.

I picked up an 03 Explorer last night, it has the fob with the L/UL/Panic/glass pop on it. Has anyone succesfully gotten both the PATS system and the keyless functions to work using a fusion key??

on my 02 explorer, everything functions properly... panic, window pop, and un/lock

Good to hear. My impatience got the better of me and I ordered a key from eBay. I should have it by the weekend, so I'll know something then. I'll set up the keyless part first, and if I get what I'm hoping there, I'll go ahead and get the key cut and program the transponder. What I'm reading here gives me confidence.
I wonder if Ford counted on people like us finding older models that new parts work with?
