Does the "Gas Station" logo lit up when it needs a fill up? cos I almost empty my tank today and it didn't light up like any given cars that I've driven... but the "Check Guage" red light came on.... normal?

yes the check guage light is the only one that lights up

On the same note, is there a light on my 91 XLT? I've never gotten the gas lower than 1/4 tank. Is there one that will come on with a low enough tank?

You think there would be one, but I've never had one come on. My X doesn't like starting with under 5 gallons, so maybe it comes on lower than that.

My explorer has the gas stationg logo. About a year ago that light stopped coming up and the "check gauge" one came up. That's how I know im out :p . Haven't bothered to look into why it does that.

Huskyfan,
I thought mine was the only one that didn't like an empty tank. I have the same problem stating...

Muncheese~~
It lights up "Check Gauge" because if you notice there are red and white lines on the top and bottom of the fuel gauge, oil pressure, battery, and temp. When the needle get into one of these "red zones", it says check guage. Just as if your temp need went into the red line, the "check guage" light would come on. It moniters those four gauges on the dash. It works the same way with the fuel gauge. When the fuel needle gets low, the "check gauge" light will come on. When the light comes on you have 2 gallons of gas left. Just to let you know :) Understand why the light comes on now? :D

Well, there's another light for that tells you you have no gas, which used to come up.

There were a few thread about this. I think the majority of the people here say it's water in the gas for the diesel models outside of the US.

Hmm... never seen that on mine before. I guess its not good to see that light:D

That light was there starting '98 and new Explorers.

Interesting...I must be going crazy then....I swear I have seen that light! I know because when I started seeing the "check gauge" one I found it odd........damn...I'm losing it..... :(

Maybe I'm thinking of my sister's old 96 Contour.....
