So I snapped some pics of my '95 Gauges, and the gauges from a Gen 2.5 as I call them- it was out of a '99 Explorer. Just to show where some of the idiot lights moved, and how the '98 and up have a needle stop on the temp gauge. I had to put the gauge hardware for the fuel and temp gauges into the '98 faces to get them to work correctly, otherwise they were backwards or pegged. I think the '95 gages had resistors or something on the back.

Thought the pics might serve a purpose at some point to someone.

Thanks for the pics Joe Dirt! :)

I don't think my 98 has a gas cap light?

the fuel cap gauge is on the right side one (the 95 gauge's)
the 98 is the left one in picture...

'95 has the fuel cap light. The '98 and up has a light to tell you apparently that it's raining on the gas station. :D Not sure what it means. May mean the same thing...

Lmao... yeah.. that's good information to know... I've never seen any of these lights.. but then again.... I always put my cap back on.

Now that I look at them a bit more, mine are different from both of those. Keep in mind, I have AWD.. so no 4x4 lights.

Even with AWD you do have the 4x4 light they are just not active.....Some people after they switch out to a selectable T-case replacement for our AWD you can wire it so those ligthts are active...I chose not to, don't really need them...

I don't have them for some reason, I've been in my vehicle with a flash light.. you can see what the cluster has for letters and all that.. they're not there.. they might have used a different kind or something.

also on 97 and down the the fuel reset in on top of the speedo, and on 98 and up, it is the door ajar. i put gauges from a 97 sport in my 98, and that is the only differences that i have noticed. that and on 97 and down, the back light is blue, and on 98 and up it is god awful green, which is why i changed them.

Funny what makes the world go around- I changed the God awful blue dash lights to the awesome green in my '95. :D

Was the blue that bad? I want blue instead of this green..

lol! ya i guess it depends on who you are. i have never been a big fan of green. my capri had green in it, and i changed them to red!

My 98 Sport more closely resembles the earlier dash.

Dan
