Most of the wheeling I do will be in mud, sand and dirt - not many rocks to crawl over here in SW Florida. If I am running 31's, what is the best gear ratio to use. I am planning on adding 3.73's with posi track and think that should be plenty.(Brett - fear not, I am buying the gears no matter what Dead Link Removed). Should I add a locker to the front as well? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 3.73's should do just fine if you are running an automatic. If your Explorer it a 5spd. I would recomend 4.10's. The front locker is a good idea, but not something you can't live without. If you do go for a front locker look into the new Detroit Gearless, I don't know if they make it for the Explorer, but from the preformance I have seen they are a good investment.

mrboyle,
Thanks for the reply. I have an auto so I will stick with my plans. Appreciate the help. I don't get into much rock-crawling here in FL, so I didn't think 4.10's or lower was needed...
