Ok here i am again asking for some help. Like stated before i'm an autotard but trying to change that fact. When i go wheeling with my buddies and we're going down hill, i put it in first and still have to put my foot on the break a pretty good amount. So my question is what do i need to do to make it so that i can creep down a hill without having the blare of red behind me.

I drive a stock 4x4 auto

putting it in 4lo may help.... other than that you cant do anything, the automatic wasnt designed for compression braking.... even changing the axle gears might again help but you are going to need to use the brakes.... waht do you care if there is red behind you?

this is when i am in 4low, and the red behind me is just a turn of phrase

gears will help a bit...but have you thought of liffting it first then doing tires with the tires then do gears and maybe go a gear set deeper. What do you have right now?...the number is on the door jamb of the drivers side door, the number is under "Axle."

just as you said i do have priorities in the order you stated. but i just am trying to get a mental list of things that i need to do and roughly how much.

Under Axle it said D2...i have no idea what that means but maybe your could help with that.

...you have a limited slip rear with 4.10 gears...;) what size tires are you running???

You won't be able to fix this unless you gear WAAAY down, get a new transfer case at least 4:1 or lower or get a different trans. The automatic trans' first gear is not even close to low enough.

Colins right. Try getting a new transfer case. The Atlas II is a very good t-case and will definitely slow you down when coming off hills. I have 410's in my truck, with an Atlas II (3.78:1 ratio) and it will definitely go slow down a hill.
