What are "fases"?

Also, some 02+ Sports will be considered 2nd Gen because they didn't get the 3rd Gen updates.

fazes my fiend has a 2nd gen faze 2 car i was wondering if explorers had the same thing (i know the spelling is not rite but it is late im tired and not a good speller any way so forgive me )

maybe he means types of explorers, like: xl, xlt, eb, lmtd........ what do you think ?

I think he is trying to say "phases". Like the Sport trac has Job 1 and Job 2. There are subtle differences in them that you wouldn't know unless you started changing things and needed to know the exact date yours came off the line.

yes im sorry i spelled that wrong that made me look relly dumb

but yes phases what r they

Like I said. There are subtle differences in them that you wouldn't know unless you started changing things and needed to know the exact date yours came off the line.

In the second gens the 95-97 had the 'two piece' Front bumper with plastic valence and your plates in the bumper,

(phase 2) in '98 they changed the plate location to the rear hatch, but kept the front bumper with seprate valence and finally

(phase 3) in '99 they replaced the front bumper with a 'one piece' design with round fog lights

now in '97 they started phasing out the OHV 4.0 and replacing it with they SOHC 4.0 but that took several years

jumping in here*

...so what year did the rear liftgates change from mine (with the T handle to open it) to the newer look, or is this the same year as the rear plate change?

Same as the plate change

Ok, thanks!:)

In 98 they removed the glove box lock, and some courtesy lamps....

98 also changed the shape of the brake lights, thereby somewhat changing the design of the hatch. I think anyway?

Yeah thats part of the plate change....by plate change i meant rear end 'lift' if you will

Would the 98 liftgates fit a 96? Or is there too much difference in shape of the newer styles?

The tailights are different, so the hatch would not be interchangeable from a 96 to a 98....
