I wonder how accurate that is for $25. Scosche is not really known for super high quality products.

How pointless is that, only goes to 135, my one 12 will over due that level

You would at least know you are over 135 though....i guess....

My radio shack one works fine. It's not much more then $25. I had it 6 years now.

Is the radio shack one accurate?

those cheap SPL meters are pointless, if you have enough bass to rattle your mirror, most likely you will top those meters out. I have metered a stock radio and got in the high 120s. I had a high dollar accurate meter that went to 162 Db with my last show vehicle http://www.gold-line.com/spl120.htm
If you are going to buy a meter, get that one, then you can hang out with people and truly see whos is louder, lol.

Looks like RS updated thiers. This new one I don't know. However the older one I have is recommended by many audiofiles, & home theater people. It's very accurate. It's analog also.

with in 3db.

I compared my hand held RS meter to a $5,000.00 profesional analizer, and it was not too terribly far off.

Nothing wrong with the RS at all.

what does the radioshack meter go up to?

I had mine in an air plane one time, so I am guessing 35,000 feet ;)

HAHAHAH!!!!!! that was great! :D
how many decibles can it read up to? 135 like the wal-mart meter? i need something that will read up to 165 at least (so i can test in port too). haha that wal mart meter would explode in my truck.

In order to go up to 165, you will need to get a quality one, the radio shack and wal-mart ones will barely reach 130 accurately. I wouldn't spend my money on either one, like I said, they do not go high enough to be worth while for car audio.
