Getting 31x10.5 BFG All terrains--speedo???

I will be getting new 31x10.5 BFG all terrains when I lift my X 2 inches all around. I wanted to know if anyone els ehad any experience with this type or lift/tires. What do you think? Also, will the speedo or odometer read any differently? Anything else I can expect? Thanks!

That combo will work well.

I don't know if your 97 uses a speedo gear or the VSS for the speedo and odo, I think it uses a gear. If so, you'll need a speedo gear one tooth smaller than your current one.

my '96 has the same tires with no lift and my speedo is off by about 8mph, according to hayses repair manual, 96 and up use the vss. and i vrought in to several ford dealerships and they all said the same, that if i had a 98 they could reprogram it, so i just watch my speed

Your 96 uses a speedo gear so you can easily fix it.

How do I retune the speedo and odo so that they will read correctly iuf I lift it 2 inches and throw 31 inchers on?

Are 97s the same as 96s for fixing the speedo? I also have 31" tires.

I just got my 31's on and I dont notice that much differece in speed.Maybe 1 or 2 mph. Get someone to drive next to you and test your speed. I am going to try that

The bigger tires will not throw off your speedo by a fixed 8 or 1 to 2 mph...it's an exponential function based on your old tire size relative to your new tire size, therefore, the faster you are moving, the more you speedo will be off. Again, the factor is your ratio of old to new tire size. Try this link, http://www.4lo.com then click on "speedometer check" in the calculators section. I made myself a quick reference chart showing actual speed compared to speedo read in 5mph incriments(sp?)
Oh, yeah, there is also a calculator for converting your metric size to inches on this site too!
