I finally broke down and ordered a IMCO Extreme from my local muffler shop. They didn't carry them in stock and he wanted the same amount of $ whether I bought the muffler and had them install it or to get the muffler and install from them. I decided to do a single in/dual out setup with two turndowns aimed a little to the side. From the back it will be clean, no visible tips or anything.

Has anyone on here down the single in/dual out setup like this on their explorer with turndowns right after the muffler?? I'm just wondering if it will be too loud in the cabin. I had turndowns on my S10 Extreme, but the sound resonated under the bed of the truck.

What size pipe?

I'm sticking with stock size pipes. I don't want to put much money into it because she has 160,000 miles on her and needs a paint job. If the motor bites the bullett, I'm gonna pick up something newer (explorer of course) but with less miles. I just figured I needed something to along with my TTL and AAL w/the 32's and procomp wheels!

I got a single 2.5" dumped at the muff and it gets loud! at some tones it gets really loud inside but that is what I like

Well since you went with the stock size pipe, you shouldn't lose too much backpressure. Honestly don't expect a V8 sound though. Not with the OHV.

I actually heard the OHV was deeper than the SOHC?

Wasn't expecting a V8 sound at all, its only a V6. I have had aftermarket exhaust on every vehicle I've ever owned and nothing sounds like the V8's, but the 2 chamber flows are close. I heard that the IMCO was a little deeper than the flowmaster, which is why I chose this. My shop has not called me yet so it looks like I won't get it until later in the week. Thanks for all the input, I was just really questioning if anyone had the single in dual out setup.

IMCO Extreme is way louder. the Super 40 series was really deep but not loud at all. Imco is a nice mix of the two
