If you have a 1st gen. X and are planning a lift sometime in the future and will try to do it youself, this may be you cheap trick. The hardest part is to remove the old brackets (radius arm and axle pivot) because the are rivoted on and hard to access. The next time you need front end work, like an aligment, buy the poly bushings from this site (cheapest around) and have them install them when the front is apart. Ask if they will nock out the axle pivot rivots also and replace with bolts. Since this isn't a "standard" mechanic rate in the book, they will usually charge less than an hour labor. Then when you lift, everything can be a bolt on proccess.

I am preparing to install a 2.5" James Duff lift. I have read several things about the rivets causing problems. I was thinking about taking your advice and have my mechanic replace the bushings and just put bolts back in. Do I only need to buy the poly bushing kits for the radius arm and axle pivots to eliminate all the rivets? Will I notice any difference other than the lack of rivets?.........performance? control? Thanks.

have to be careful though... cause some mechs will torch em out thus makin it weaker.... just get it done faster..... i would sugest doing the axel pivot yourself just for the security... cause god know what they can toch up and put hole in while under there....
