Hey everyone i have an 05 Explorer with the 4.0 and am needing help. Need some help beefing up the torque in it. Dont really want to rip into the rear diff and change gears or anything like that. Would like to know what some people have dont to theirs or what they would recommend?

idk much about the new Xs, but if its the same 4.0 that mine has there isn't a lot you can do. it makes most of its power and torque at higher rpms. if you get a tune for it though the tranny is where most of the gains are. firming up the shifts and stuff makes it like night and day.

is your X STOCK ?

do you have anything done to it already ?

do you have a tow package ( larger tow hitch reciever ) ???

lets start from here fella...

Right now it is completely stock. I do have the towing package which adds some weight to it .I have the small towing package but somebody had installed the larger one to it as well when i bought it.

well theres 2 different gear sets depending on what reciever you have...

theres the tow package with 3.55 gears...

and the package with 3.73 gears...

if your looking for more up and go, here are the simple starter mods that most ppl do to try and up the performance...

Intake or Airbox Mod

Exhaust

Tuner

UDP's

this combo will give your X some good get up and go...

its the tow package with the 3.55

thats the base...

look at the mods i listed above... thats where usually everyone starts...

e-fan, intake, exhaust, headers, plugs and wires, tune....

what kind of tuner would yall recommend for it?
